S2S joins up with the Cornell Cooperative Extension and the Bedford Audubon Society to host a Winter Bird Count!

Yesterday S2S joined Bedford Audubon Society and Cornel Cooperative Extension at Tilly Foster Farm in Brewster, NY for a Winter Bird Count event. We welcomed local veterans and families for a cold but wonderful day of snowy exploration and avian cataloging. We had field guides, a feather ID station, and hot cider to keep everyone warm. Participants recorded blue birds, woodpeckers, jays and cardinals, nuthatches and gold finches, cedar wax wings, a sharp shinned hawk, red-tail, bald eagle, and a kestrel!

Stay tuned for our next event at Tilly Foster Farm - we’ll be hosting an Owl Prowl in February and plan to have some live specimens for demonstration. These events are part of a large partnership with Cornell Cooperative Extension where S2S will help in the reforestation of this natural area. Future Events are coming! Stay Posted!
