Pinyon Jay Studies with Great Basin Bird Observatory

As part of its EcoRecon Expedition during the month of August, S2S continues to build new projects to enhance the scientific experience of the veterans who attend. The Pinyon Jay remains an incredibly important bird in the ecosystem of Great Basin National Park, and S2S partnered with the Great Basin Bird Observatory to take veterans out to observe the bird in its habitat while understanding how the data gathered is critical to the ongoing mission othe Great Basin Bird Observatory. If you are a veteran interested in ornithology, or you are interested in attending a future expedition with S2S, considering sending us an email to indicate your interest. S2S is hard at work gathering the funding for the 2026 EcoRecon Expedition in August 2026, and if you are a veteran, we would love to have you join us to study the pinyon jay among the many other species studied during the trip! Check out some great photos below, and reach out to us at soldiers2scientists@gmail.com.

If you are interested in learning more about citizen science near you, consider an S2S Consultation, and we can get you set up with a project in no time!
